Keyabaat Meye (DAG Museums Event)
Project type
Documentation Photography
Date
22nd November, 2023
Location
Kolkata
Keyabat Meye, conceptualized by the queer-feminist collective Samuho and produced by DAG Museums, was a powerful exploration of the roles of Bengali women in colonial Calcutta. Set in the 200-year-old Barrister Babu's mansion, the performance ingeniously used the house’s architecture—its central courtyard, narrow corridors, secluded chambers and the rooftop. I focused on capturing how the space itself became a dynamic part of the narrative, highlighting the interplay between the performers and the site’s historical layers, as they brought these forgotten stories to life.
A few of the photos were published in The Telegraph.
